M3CCA is an award winning multidisciplinary performance/ visual artist from Houston, Texas, whose personal mission is to reshape the way people perceive the connection between art and music. As an experimental soul singer/emcee and design artist, she strives to combine all of her passions together in order to execute and express her visions, both sonically and visually. In addition, to using her stage as her healing and spiritual outlet by combining all of her talents and technical training (voice and visual art) to create “space gospel:” her own personal brand of thought provoking, rhythmic, emotional, experiential music, while challenging expectations every step of the way. M3CCA credits her Houston upbringing as the inspiration behind her artistry and why she strives to create artistic experiences that can inspire others. Growing up in community centers such as S.H.A.P.E community center and Project Row Houses as a child she learned through these experiences about the importance of interdependence and community unity which has shaped the way she views her artistic purpose. Her mission is to serve her community through sharing her artistic talents and showing people that there are ways to overcome and heal negative feelings without engaging in harmful activities to cope. This grant award will allow M3CCA to expand her creative journey further into healing the community through the different mediums of art that have helped her heal her issues with depression, trauma, and anxiety.
M3CCA began her journey of recording and performing her original music at her alma mater University of North Texas, where she graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary and Design Studies with a focus on fashion design, graphic design, and art history. Her works include her musical projects FRUITTAPE (2017), WTR pHilez, H3ARSUMMUZIK and many singles that are available on all streaming platforms. Her project FRUITTAPE is critically acclaimed gaining her recognition around the Houston and Dallas area in publications and platforms such as Houston Press, Dallas Observer, D Magazine, Central Track, KXT 91.7 fm, and All Real Radio. She has also earned awards such as a Dallas Cosign award for best R&B artist, and two Dallas Observer awards for best new artist of 2018 and best funk act of 2019. She has performed all around Texas opening for many major artists such as Madison Mcferrin, Leikeli47, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Phony Ppl, Sunni Patterson, Iman Omari, Jamila Woods, Raheem Devaughn, and Tobe Nwigwe. M3CCA also uses her talents outside of the live stage by lending her talents to teach music and songwriting classes/ workshops to youth organizations such as Youth2Power and Young Leaders Strong City of Dallas, Texas.
